Annual General Meeting followed by a talk by Brian Powell
"HOW SPAIN CAME TO BE".
This will be an overview of how Spain developed over the centuries to be the country that we know today. It is the first of a number of events during the year on the theme "Spain: past, present and future", the second of which is in November.

"CATALUNYA: PART OF SPAIN?"
It was 300 years on 11th September since the loss of Catalunya's liberties following the siege of Barcelona at the end of the War of Spanish Succession. To commemorate this major anniversary, we have a "round table" event with a panel including local Catalan people discussing Catalan history and identity, and the aspirations of many in Catalunya for independence from Spain.

HISPANIC FILM NIGHT:
"OCHO APELLIDOS VASCOS"
a highly rated comedy premiered in March of this year, and - within a month of its release - reputedly the most watched Spanish film in Spain.

FIESTA DEL INVIERNO
It will be held in St Mary's Church Hall in Cottingham. There will be food (usually including Tapas and also hot dish), music and quizzes.
